Time and time again, Doug McLeod has found himself heading teams that looked to him to make key decisions. Decisions that required more time, more information, and more analysis than were available in the face of a looming deadline. There are certainly appropriate times to wait and there are times to act.
Being compelled to act with less than perfect information is a hallmark of good leadership. Experience and insight play critical roles in removing much of the guessing and guide one to better decisions. Being right is sometimes not as important as moving forward if the cost of inaction will further move a project or business closer to failure. At Tyndall, we take seriously and value the decision-making process with the long view that will best serve your business.
BACKGROUND AND EXPERIENCE
As the founder of Tyndall Company, Doug brings decades of leadership experience from the automotive and manufacturing sector based on his significant financial and operational positions. Doug has held positions at Ford Motor Company with the powertrain manufacturing division, finance for product development, as well as finance for operation testing facilities. This broad skill set led Doug to be recruited to a manufacturing subsidiary of Fiat, called Comau, where he was a platform controller for more than $200MM worth of projects.
Doug’s performance quickly led to a promotion where he led the proposal and estimating teams in the US and Mexico for annual quoting activities that exceeded $1B. Doug was later hand-picked by the executive team at Comau to take charge of a failing new vehicle line installation at Mercedes in Vance, Alabama. Following his move to Alabama, Doug successfully completed the two year Mercedes project by meeting the job one launch date while stabilizing project financial losses.
Shortly thereafter, Doug left Comau to pursue an entrepreneurial opportunity where he co-founded a manufacturing company to support the growing automotive footprint in the Southeast region. After nine successful years, Doug decided to sell his interest and founded the Tyndall Company. This move has allowed Doug to best lever and share his expertise to help companies in the manufacturing and automotive sectors.
